3261Ar-Pharazôn brings Sauron to Númenor as prisoner.
3319The fall of Númenor.
3320Elendil and his sons Isildur and Anárion who have escaped the drowning of Númenor, found Arnor and Gondor as their Kingdoms in Middle-earth.
3441Sauron is defeated but not destroyed by the armies of the LastAlliance of Elves and Men led by Elendil and Gil Gilad. Elendil, Gil-galad and Anárion are slain. Elendil’s sword, Narsil, breaks under his body, but the shards are kept as an heirloom of his line. Isildur cuts the Ring of Power from Sauron’s hand and keeps it as an "heirloom" of his kingdom.

1944Ondoher falls in battle with his sons. Eärnil defeats the enemy in south Ithilien and then wins the Battle__of__the Camp, driving the Wainriders into the DeadMarshes. Arvendui claims the crown of Gondor.
1945Eernil II receives the crown of Gondor.
1974End of the NorthernKingdom. The Witch-king overruns Arthedain and takes Fornost.
1975Arvedui drowns and the Palantíri of Annúminas and AmonSûl are lost. Eärnur brings a fleet from Gondor to Lindon. The Witch-king is defeated at the Battle of Fornost and pursued to the Ettenmoors. he vanishes from the North.
1976Aranath takes the title of Chieftain of the Dúnedain. The heirlooms of Arnor are given into the keeping of Elrond.
1977Frumgar leads the Eotheod into the North.
1979Bucca of the Marish becomes first Thain of the Shire.
1980The Witch-king comes to Mordor and there gathers the Nazgûl. the Dwarves of Moria unleash a Balrog (Durin's Bane) which kills Durin VI.
1981Nain I slain and the Dwarves flee from Moria. Many of the Silvan Elves of Lorien flee south. Amroth and Nimrodel are lost.
1999{Thráin I}? founds his kingdom at Erebor.
2000The Nazgûl besiege MinasIthil.
2001Fall of MinasIthil which becomes MinasMorgul. the Palantír is captured.
2043Eärnur becomes King of Gondor and is challenged to single combat by the Witch-king.
2050Eärnur rides to MinasMorgul to take up the Witch-king’s challenge and is lost. Mardil becomes the first Ruling Steward.
2060The power of DolGuldur grows and the Wise fear that Sauron is taking shape again.
2063Gandalf enters DolGuldur but Sauron retreats and hides in the East. the Watchful Peace begins. the Nazgûl remain quiescent in MinasMorgul.
2210Thorin I leaves Erebor for the Grey Mountains.
2340Isumbras I becomes thirteenth Thain, the first of the Took line. the Oldbucks occupy the Buckland.
2460The Watchful Peace ends. Sauron returns with increased strength to DolGuldur.
2463Galadriel summons the WhiteCouncil. Déagol finds the OneRing, but Sméagol (later Gollum) kills him and takes the OneRing.
2470Gollum hides in the MistyMountains.
2475Attack on Gondor renewed. Osgiliath ruined and its bridges broken.
c.2480Orcs build strongholds in the MistyMountains to bar all passes into Eriador. Sauron fills Moria with his minions.
2510Gondor gives the Rohirrim Calenhardon (later Rohan) with the Oath of Cirion and Eorl.
2545Eorl falls in battle in the Wold.
c.2570Dragons reappear in the far North and begin to afflict the Dwarves.
2589Dáin I is slain by a dragon.
2590Thrór returns to Erebor while Grór his brother goes to the IronHills.

2740Orcs renew their invasions of Eriador.
2758Rohan is overrun and Gondor attacked by fleets of the Corsairs. the Long Winter follows with great loss of life. Gandalf comes to the aid of the Shire.
2759Saruman is given Orthanc for a dwelling by the Steward Beren.
2770Smaug destroys the Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor and the Kingdom of Dale. he continues to harass the countryside for many years.
2790Thrór slain by an Orc in Moria and the Dwarves gather for a war of vengeance. birth of Gerontius, later known as the Old Took.
2793The War of the Dwarves and Orcs begins.
2799The Battle of Nanduhirion. Dáin Ironfoot returns to the IronHills. {Thráin II}? and his son Thorin wander westwards and settle in the south of Ered Luin beyond the Shire (2802).
2800-64Orcs from the north trouble Rohan. King Walda is slain (2861)
2841{Thráin II}? returns to Erebor but is pursued by Sauron’s forces and captured (2845)
2845{Thráin II}? imprisoned in DolGuldur and the last of the Rings of Power taken from him.
2850Gandalf enters DolGuldur a second time discovers that Sauron is there. he also discovers Thráin, late King of Erebor, dying in Sauron’s dungeons. Thráin give Gandalf a key and map of a secret door into the mountain to give to his son Thorin.
2851The WhiteCouncil meets again and Gandalf counsels that Sauron should be attacked before he can regain his strength. Saruman overrules this suggestion.
2852Belecthor II of Gondor dies. the WhiteTree also dies and no seedling can be found to replace it. the tree is left standing ‘until the king returns’.
2885The Haradrim cross the Poros and attack Gondor. the sons of Folcwine of Rohan fall in defense of the kingdom.
2890Birth of Bilbo Baggins
2911The Fell Winter
2912Great floods devastate Enedwaith and Minhiriath. Tharbad is ruined and deserted.
2930Arador slain by Trolls. birth of Denethor II son of Ecthelion II in MinasTirith.
2931Aragorn II is born.
2933Arathorn II slain. Gilraen takes Aragorn to Rivendell.
2939Saruman discovers that Sauron’s servants are searching the Anduin near GladdenFields which means that Sauron has learned of Isildur’s end. Although alarmed, Saruman says nothing to the WhiteCouncil.
2941Gandalf seeks out Thorin and gives him his father’s map and key. Then, at Thorin’s request that he find a 14th member for the expedition, he chooses Bilbo. the hobbit and the Dwarves start their journey to Erebor.

Bilbo finds the OneRing in the goblin tunnels of the MistyMountains.

Bard the Bowman slays the dragon and an army of Men and Elves come to the Mountain for the treasure only to be met by Thorin who has built defences against attack. After some parlay and an unknown (to all but Gandalf) approach of the scene by Thorin’s kin Nain, the three forces are about to wage war when the outriders of a huge Orc army appears. all past hostilities are put aside as the Battle of the Five Armies takes place. Eventually, the Dwarves, Elves and Men are joined first by the eagles of the MistyMountains and then by Beorn, the shape changer and the Orcs are defeated. Thorin, however, is killed in the battle.

The WhiteCouncil decides to attack DolGuldur and Sauron flees to Mordor.
2942Bilbo returns to the Shire with the Ring. Sauron returns in secret to Mordor.
2944Bard rebuilds Dale and becomes King. Gollum leaves the mountains to begin his search.
2949Discomforted by Bilbo’s obviously “magic” ring, the Wizard sets a guard about the Shire using the Rangers of the North and in this year, he and Balin of the original company, visit with Bilbo in the Shire.
2951Sauron gathers his powers in Mordor and sends three of the Nazgûl to DolGuldur. Elrond reveals to Aragorn his heritage and delivers to him the shards of Narsil. Aragorn begins his years of errantry.
2953The WhiteCouncil meets for the last time and discusses the fate of Sauron’s lost Ring of power. Saruman attempts to allay the concerns of the rest of the Council by maintaining that he has proof the Ring rolled down the Anduin to the sea years before. However, the Wizard keep spies close by the area of the River when the Ring was lost at the beginning of the age.
2954Orodruin bursts into flame again. The last inhabitants of Ithilien flee over the Anduin.
2956Gandalf meets Aragorn and asks for his assistance in hunting for Gollum in order to ease his mind concerning the Ring.
2957-80Aragorn serves Thengel of Rohan and Ecthelion of Gondor as Thorongil
2968Frodo is born.
3001Bilbo’s party. Frodo receives the Ring.
3004-8Gandalf frequently visits Frodo in the Shire
3009Gandalf and Aragorn renew their search for Gollum which continues intermittently over the next eight years
3017Aragorn captures Gollum and takes him to Mirkwood where Gandalf learns of the Ring and that Sauron has learned it has been found, the name of the one who keeps it (Baggins) and where it is kept (The Shire). Gandalf has also learned of another test for the Ring amongst the scrolls kept in MinasTirith. it is this test (the test by fire) he uses when he confronts Frodo with the truth about the Ring.

 19Gandalf arrives at Edoras, but is not allowed to enter.
 20Gandalf is allowed to enter Edoras and Théoden commands him to take any horse he wants and then leave.
 21Gandalf meets Shadowfax.
 23Gandalf tames Shadowfax. Four of the Nazgûl enters the Shire. Frodo leaves Bag end.
 26Frodo and the other hobbit is in the Old forest where they meet Tom Bombadil.
 29Frodo and the other Hobbits arrive Bree where they meet Strider. They are attacked by the Nazgûl in Bree.
 30They leave Bree and Strider leads them trough the wilderness. Gandalf arrives Bree.
October3Gandalf is attacked by the Nazgûl at the Weathertop.
 6The Hobbits and Strider is attacked by the Nazgûl at Weathertop. Frodo wounded by the Morgul blade of the Witch-king.
 9Glorfindel leaves Rivendell in his search for the Hobbits and Strider.
 11Glorfindel drives the Nazgûl away from the bridge over Mitheithel.
 18Glorfindel finds the Hobbits and Strider. Gandalf arrives in Rivendell.
 20Glorfindel arrives in Rivendell with Frodo
 24Frodo awakes in Rivendell he has survived thanks to Lord Elrond’s healing skills. Boromir arrives Rivendell.
 25The council of Elrond wherein it is decided that the Fellowship of the Ring will carry the OneRing to Mount Doom in Mordor and there it shall be destroyed in the Cracks of Doom (Sammath Naur). The Fellowship of the Ring: Strider/Aragorn? II, Elessar, heir of Elendil through Isildur of the Ring, Boromir (older son of the steward of Gondor), Gandalf the Grey, the Maia Olórin of the Istari and wielder of the Elven Ring, Narya, Legolas the elf, son of Thranduril the King of Mirkwood, Gimli a Dwarf of Erebor, son of Gloin of the Fellowship of Thorin Oakenshield, Meriadoc Brandybuck (Merry) a hobbit and friend of Frodo Baggins of the Shire, Peregrin Took (Pippin) another hobbit and friend of Frodo, Samwise Gamgee (Sam), a hobbit and Frodo’s servant and Frodo Baggins, son Drogo, nephew and heir of Bilbo the Ring Finder. It is Frodo who will bear the Ring to the Fire.
December25The Fellowship leaves Rivendell. They follow the MistyMountains southward.

January11The Fellowship attempts to cross the Mountains at the RedhornGate, the pass of Caradhras.
 12During a great storm Caradhras, the Fellowship has no choice but to retreat back down the mountain. a decision is then made to attempt to cross the Mountains through the mines of Moria.
 13The Fellowship is attacked by wargs. They reach the west gate of Moria where they are attacked by the Watcher in the Water, but reach the relative safety of the Mines. However, the western gate is destroyed by the Watcher.
 15The presence of the Fellowship is revealed to the Orcs and creatures in Moria. They are attacked by Orcs. The Fellowship heads for the bridge of Khazad-dûm. On the bridge Gandalf pits himself againt a Balrog, a great fire demon (Maia) of the FirstAge (Durin’s bane). The Wizard destroys the bridge with his staff and the Balrog falls into the abyss, but as he falls, his whip catches the Wizard who is also pulled into the abyss. The rest of the Fellowship escapes from Moria, assured that Gandalf is dead. Under Aragorn’s leadership, the Fellowship reaches Lothlórien, the realm of Galadriel and Celeborn.
 23Gandalf and the Balrog fight in the depths of Moria. eventually, the Wizard pursues his adversary to the top of Zirak-zigil.
 25Gandalf slays the Balrog and gives up his spirit. His body remains on the mountain top for several days.
February14Frodo and Sam looks into the mirror of Galadriel. Gandalf returns to life but remains in a sleep like trance.
 16The Fellowship leaves Lothlórien. Gollum hides at the western shore and follows.
 17Gwaihir carries Gandalf to Lothlórien.
 25The Fellowship passes trough the Argonath and camps at Parth Galen. Theoden’s son Theodred is killed in the first battle of the Fords of Isen.
 26The Fellowship is broken. Boromir is killed by Uruk-hai’s after he tries to take the OneRing from Frodo. Merry and Pippin are captured by the Uruk-hai soldiery which had killed Boromir. Frodo and Sam cross the Anduin and enter the Emyn Muil from the east. Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli begin the hunt for the Uruk-hai forces with their prisoners. Eomer hear rumours about Orcs crossing Rohan to the north.
 27Eomer takes with him some Men and sets out to pursue the Orcs against Theoden’s command.
 28Eomer traps Saruman’s forces at the border of Fangorn.
 29Merry and Pippin escape during the with the “assistance” of Grishnkh an Orc from Mordor who is slain attempting to make off with the captives. They enter Fangorn where they encounter Treebeard. The Rohirrim slay Saruman’s Orcs. Frodo and Sam meet Gollum during their attempts to cross the Emyn Muil.
 30At the request of Treebeard, the Ents convene an Entoot to decide about their response to the news brought by Merry and Pippin. Eomer meets Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas, gives them mounts and then he returns to Edoras where, at Grima’s behest, he is imprisoned for his disobedience.
March1Frodo, Sam and Gollum start to cross the DeadMarshes. Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas meet Gandalf the White in Fangorn. Faramir leaves MinasTirith for a mission at Ithilien.
 2Frodo, Sam and Gollum emerge from the DeadMarshes. The Rohirrim ride to the west. The second battle of the Fords of Isen begins. The Rohirrim suffer great losses. The Ents marched towards Isengard.
 3Théoden withdraws to Helm’s deep. The battle of Hornburg begins. The Ents destroy Isengard save only for Orthanc which they cannot damage.
 4The Battle of the Hornburg is won by the Rohirrim with the help of Gandalf and Erkenbrand and the huorns who have come to wage war on the Orcs. Théoden and Gandalf leave Helm’s Deep for Isengard. Frodo comes to the wastelands around Morannon.
 5Théoden and Gandalf arrive Isengard and discover Merry and Pippin. Gandalf begins to parley with Saruman in hopes of turning him back to the good. Grima throws the Palantír down from Orthanc and Pippin looks into it. Saruman rejects Gandalf’s offer of mercy. The Rohirrim with Gandalf, Merry, Pippin and Aragorn camp at DolBaran? where Pippin looks into the Orthanc stone. A flying Nazgûl passes overhead and Gandalf rides with Pippin to MinasTirith while the King returns to Helm’s Deep with the rest of the party.
 6Aragorn meets the Dúnedain who have been sent from the North. Upon reaching Helm’s Deep, Aragorn looks into the Orthanc stone and reveals himself to Sauron. Theoden sets out from the Hornburg to Harrowdale while Aragorn and his party leave later for the Paths of the Dead.
 7Frodo, Sam and Gollum meets Faramir and goes with him to Henneth Annûn. Aragorn comes to Dunharrow by nightfall.
 8Aragorn takes the Paths of the Dead, reaching the Erech stone by midnight. Frodo, Sam and Gollum leaves Henneth Annûn.
 9Gandalf and Pippin arrives MinasTirith. Aragorn and the Dúnedain rides to Calembel. Frodo, Sam and Gollum find the Morgul road. A darkness begins to stream out of Mordor.
 10The day without sunrise. The gathering of Rohan begins. Gandalf saves Faramir outside the gates of MinasTirith. An army from Morannon takes Cair Andros and enters Anórien. Frodo, Sam and Gollum cross the crossroad and sees a large army from MinasMorgul.
 11Gollum visits Shelob. Denethor sends Faramir to Osgiliath. The east of Rohan is invaded from the north and the first attack at Lothlórien is launched.
 12Gollum leads Sam and Frodo into the tunnel and abandons them knowing that Shelob is waiting. The Ents defeat the invaders in Rohan.
 13Frodo is poisoned by Shelob, but Sam stabs her and she flees. Sam believes that Frodo is dead and takes the ring and plans to continue the quest. Frodo (who is not dead) is taken prisoner by the Orcs of Cirith Ungol. Sam goes to rescue Frodo. The Pelennor is invaded. Faramir is wounded. Aragorn and the Dúnedain reaches Pelargir and capture the enemy fleet. Under the guidance of Ghan-buri-Ghan?, Théoden and the Rohirrim travel through the Drúadan-forest to reach the battle in secret.
 14Sam finds Frodo in the tower and returns the Ring to him. MinasTirith is under siege.
 15The Witch-king and his army destroy the gate of MinasTirith. Denethor attempts to immolate himself and his dying son but Gandalf manages to save Faramir. Rohan arrives at the Pelennor. Théoden is killed during the battle but Eowyn fighting in disguise, slays the Witch-king. Aragorn and his army arrives with the banner of the king raised. Frodo and Sam start towards Mount Doom along Morgai. Thranduril and the elves of Mirkwood fight and win against the forces of DolGuldur. The second attack against Lothlórien is launched.
 17The battle of Dale. King Bran and King Dáin Ironfoot are slain. Many dwarfs and Men hide in Erebor which comes under siege.
 18The armies of Rohan and Gondor march against Mordor from MinasTirith. Frodo and Sam are captured by Orcs (who believe them to be fellow Orcs) and are brought to Udûn.
 19Frodo and Sam escape and attempt to reach Mount Doom.
 22The terrible dusk. The third attack at Lothlórien.
 24The Host of the West reaches Morannon.
 25The army is surrounded. Frodo and Sam reaches Sammath Naur. Gollum attacks Frodo and takes the ring and falls into the Fire. Sauron and the Ring are destroyed. Frodo and Sam are carried by Gwaihir to safety.
 27Bard II and Thorin III drives the enemy away from Dale.
 28Celeborn goes over the Anduin and the destruction of DolGuldur begins.
May1King Aragorn II Elessar is crowned.
June25KingElessar finds the WhiteTree.
