Atanatar II
(redirection from Alcarin)

(Q. 'father of Men') (Q. 'glorious')

(III 977 – III 1226; ruled since III 1149)

Dúnadan, son of Ciryaher, father of Narmacil I and Calmacil and 16th King of Gondor. Atanatar loved only wealth. During his rule, the Crown was replaced by a jewelled one, with precious stones and Gondor reached its height in luxury and splendour, his surname Alcarin marking this. However he neglected the watch over Mordor and did nothing to maintain the power of Gondor. He was succeeded by his son Narmacil I.
