Erebor

Sind.: er(e)...lonely, single + or(o)... mountain

Single mountain east of Mirkwood, west of the IronHills (north of the LongLake). First settled by Thrain I with a big part of DurinsFolk after they had fled from Moria. In ThA 1999 they founded the Kingdom under the Mountain there. In ThA 2770 the Kingdom was plundered by Smaug, who remained there until he was disturbed by Thorin and Company (Thorin organized in ThA 2941 with Gandalf's and Bilbo's help an expedition to reclaim the Kingdom) and afterwards slain by Bard I.

The Kingdom under the Mountain was re-established by Dáin II Ironfoot and it remained independent in the FourthAge, but was allied with the ReunitedKingdom.

Also called the LonelyMountain.
