A mysterious kind of Troll, or possibly another kind of monster that can maybe be imagined as a yeti. According to the name, this creature roamed the snows during winter and killed people obviosuly to be fed. Snow-trolls never appear in the tales, but are only mentioned once when Helm (who dwelt in the snowy caves and killed his enemies with his hands during the {Long Winter}?) is paralleled as one due to his tactics.

On the other hand, this kind of creature must be wholly legendary among the peoples of Middle-earth, and never such a monster ever walked in the snows of Endor.
