Changed: 1c1
War fought in Eriador, between 1693 and 1700 of the SeA, chiefly between the armies of Sauron and those of the Gwaith-i-Mírdain of Eregion. The conflict was sparked by Celebrimbor's discovery of the forging of the OneRing; Sauron's objective was to wrest from the Elves the remaining {Rings of Power}? and bring the westlands under his sway. The war resulted in the utter annihilation of the last Noldorin realm in Middle-earth, as well as the depopulation of Eriador; it also constituted the first major military confrontation between Mordor and Númenor, which intervened in 1700 and destroyed Sauron's forces.
