Variags

Men of the East who dwelt in Khand, a land to the south-east of Mordor.

Variags, or Men of Khand, enter into the histories of Middle-earth at least twice, and (like most Easterlings) little else is known about them. They were first encountered by the Men of Gondor in 1944, where they fought alongside the Wainriders against Gondor's Northern Army. And in the War of the Ring they fought (and died) on the Pelennor fields.
