FAQ / What was the fate of the Silmarils

The first Silmaril to be re-taken from Morgoths crown by Beren and Lúthien, and is now on the brow of Eärendil as he sails the heavens, the light of this Silmaril is the brightest star in the sky and it always appears over Aman in the Far West and is called the Morning and Evening Star. It is also known as Gil-Estel, the Star of Hope.

The other two Silmarils were taken back from Melkor by Eonwe after the War of Wrath, from whom they were stolen by the two surviving sons of Fëanor: Maedhros and Maglor. Each took one Silmaril, but found that they had lost their right to bear the jewels and were tormented with unbearable pain. Maedhros threw himself into a a fissure of fire in the earth, carrying his Silmaril with him. Maglor cast his Silmaril into the sea.

So the final fate of the Silmarils is in Heavens, Earth, and Sea.
