Amon Ereb
(redirection from Ereb)

(s. 'lonely hill')

The easternmost hill of Andram west of the river Gelion, which was standing alone. It was the southernmost fortified place of EastBeleriand? and guarded the northern Taur-im-Duinath?.

Here Denethor and his people were surrounded by Orcs in the FirstBattle, and here he fell before Thingol could come to his aid. Later in the FirstAge, after the DagorBragollach, Caranthir and the remnant of his people along with the people of Amrod and Amras maintained a watch on this hill. The Fëanoreans withdrew there after NirnaethArnoediad.

The hill was also called Ereb for short.
